May 23, 2012: Sunny, 69°

This week my album got finally released into the wild and it’s looking like this summer I’m going to be heavily involved in marketing and promotions of the project itself. I have about a marketing budget of about 0 to 5 dollars right now, so it’s gonna be a lot of work and a lot of learning new skills and such. But what else is new, really?

Speaking of marketing, today I walked into the practice room of [undisclosed location] and found an empty beer can sitting next to the piano. It must be summer time and people are loosening up around these parts, heh. (I found an empty box of reeds next to it too — must’ve been a woodwind player.) The title for today’s track is “free beer!”…how many people are gonna click on the link solely for that reason? Would they really think they can get free beer from an digital music album? (Who knows, I’ve clicked on links that were less plausible lots of times.)

A sane, more responsible person probably would’ve thrown away (or recycled) the can and that would’ve been that. But since I was in the process of trying to improve upon our “stuff in the piano” idea I washed it out and threw it into the piano as well. It didn’t work all that great as a vibration speaker, but it sounded pretty decent as a drum-kit, at least.

Unfortunately I can’t say that I learned any new insights today, though the execution of the music itself turned out pretty good. Lessons are about to come, but probably later on in the week when more information starts coming in. (Must’ve been the beer.)
