Hi all, welcome to the new site.  I decided to update my old site into a blog format since I’ve found that it makes updating things a lot easier.

Right now I have 3 main projects going on — my new band OK Music, the “Music and Ethics” paper, and a composition project I’m working on with Mateo Tannatt that will get premiered at the Hammer museum some time in February of next year.  Apparently the singer of our last project, John Quale (aka Prince Poppycock) is now a TV celebrity after having been featured on Americas Got Talent. I probably never would’ve known unless Mateo told me since I don’t even own a TV! (I should probably be more up to date with these kinds of things, really.)

Anyway, lots of things seem to be happening to lots of people I know now so I think 2011 will be an exciting year for music, art, academics and all those things that I’ve been doing while in LA.

I’ll also be using this site to share and log some of my research on the Music and Ethics project. When I first started writing the paper I had no idea what I was getting myself into — it’s obvious now that I have my scholarly work cut out for me for at least the next couple of years, but the chances of producing original research seems very high at this point. Hopefully I’ll get some feedback and ideas along the way as I attempt to turn this site into an archive of discussions and reference materials. Here goes nothing!
